Blue Star Mothers We are a military service organization for our deployed troops, our vets and families on the home front. We send packages to the deployed soldiers, we supply our hospitalized vets with whatever they need, within reason. We supply the families of the deployed with information if they have a problem while their soldier is deployed. We are non-political and non-profit. Historical Society of East Bloomfield - Visit Website The Historical Society of East Bloomfield is an educational organization dedicated to the preservation and celebration of the cultural heritage of the Bloomfield community. • Meeting Date(s): 1st Monday of Month, 6:30PM @ Bloomfield Academy• Contact: Steve Beaulieu • Email: SAANYSCOR@aol.com Activities: Public programs are held on the third Thursday of the month from April through October excluding August. These meetings are held at the Bloomfield Academy beginning at 7PM. The meetings run about 1 to 1.5 hours. Refreshments are served following the presentations. While there is no admissions charge, the Society appreciates donations. Questions or comments about programs may be addressed to Mathieu Steele, Program Chairperson. Matt welcomes program ideas from interested residents. The Society sponsors an annual Christmas Party/ Auction usually on the first Saturday in December. Recently, the Society has also sponsored a booth at the Bloomfield Holiday Fair held at the elementary school. In June, the Society holds a two day community garage sale to benefit the museum fund. On the second Sunday of July, the Society sponsors a barbecue, ice cream with strawberry social, and pie sale,on its grounds. This coincides with the antique car show held in historic Elton Park. The museum strives to have a variety of exhibits in the Lena Steele Room of the museum each year. This year's first exhibit focused on "Bloomfield Through the Decades". The Society publishes a newletter, "Academy Chronicles". Members may receive a hard copy and a pdf version online. The Society also has recently established a presence on the social networking site, Facebook . To submit items for the newsletter, please contact Peg Parshall. For contributions to the Facebook site, please notify Steve Beaulieu The Historical Society's principal tenant, the Antique Wireless Association, will be moving into their own facility within the next couple of years. The Society , in anticipation of that move, is planning on how to most effectively use the additional space that will be made available for our museum's use. Serenity House of Victor, Inc.
Serenity house is a 2 bed comfort care home located in Victor. Our volunteers and staff provide 24 hour care and support to those with three months or less to live and their families. Our services are not billable and are provided to everyone at no cost. “Respect and support for the terminally ill are reflected in our work at Serenity House. Our home, hearts and hands are open to provide a warm, accepting and supportive environment for residents and their loved ones. For those nearing the end of a terminal illness, we will address their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We allow them to leave this world with dignity. This holistic, supportive environment also extends to the bereavement process.” We strive to allow each resident to die with dignity and support. American Heritage Girls American Heritage Girls offers an alternative for girls (K-12) that is more akin to the Boy Scout experience. • Contact: Pat Overmoyer • Email: povermoyer@frontiernet.net Activities: Chicken BBQ on Memorial Day after the parade. Annual Summer Faire at Elton Park, the Saturday before BCS Graduation Information: AHG is a character development program for girls aged 5-18, dedicated to “building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country”. The program is recommended by Dr. James Dobson in his best-selling book, "How to Raise a Girl". Info can be found at www.ahgonline.org. AHG officially partnered with Boy Scouts of America in June of 2009. Troop NY0024 began in 2006 and was the first troop in NYS. Our troop is based in Bloomfield, but serves girls from Fairport, Rush, Clifton Springs, Canandaigua, Honeoye, Macedon, Victor, as well as Bloomfield. We currently have 26 girl members, 4 leaders and 2 assistant leaders. |
